Carbisdale Castle in winter

Carbisdale Castle is decked in history and has seen a king, a prince and a duchess. In 1945 the Castle was bequeathed to the Scottish Youth Hostels Association (SYHA) and set up as a Youth Hostel. It is the Association's flagship Hostel, receiving fabulous reviews from travel writers and guests from all over the world. The SYHA has a network of over 60 Hostels throughout Scotland. The buildings range from cottages to large, opulent houses, and a Castle. The SYHA is a membership organisation.
