Carbisdale Castle has accommodation for approximately 189 guests. There are 32 bunkrooms available ranging in size from 2 - 14 beds, all with toilets and shower facilities located nearby.

The Castle has a large collection of art and Italian Marble statues on display in the galleries. The two large public rooms and dining room with 100-120 seating capacity all have decorative plasterwork ceilings. An impressive carved wooded staircase, overlooked by stained glass windows, leads to the upper gallery. The hostel also has two well-equipped self-catering kitchens and two small dining rooms. Some rooms are also suitable for wheelchairs. Other facilities include laundry, drying room, games room, TV room, lounge and a basic shop. There is car parking at the hostel.

Local Attractions

Carbisdale Castle is situated on a cliff-top overlooking the Kyle of Sutherland surrounded by woodlands with forest walks and orienteering trails starting just outside the castle gates. Take a walk across to the Falls of Shin visitor centre where you may be lucky enough to see salmon jumping and where you can eat the best banoffee pie! The area has some of Scotland's finest Salmon and Trout rivers - the Oykel and its tributaries the Cassley, Shin and Carron. Trout fishing is also very popular - try out Loch Shin and Loch Migdale. Choose what you'd like to do from: distilleries, castles, nature reserves, gold-panning, mountains (Munros), fishing, heritage and archaeological trails, golf courses, brochs, standing stones, seals, dolphin cruises, beautiful scenery, mountain biking, peace & quiet.

There are deer and badgers in the forest by the castle and seals in the Kyle of Sutherland. At Loch Fleet (20 miles) there is a National Nature Reserve with Common seals, otters and shore crabs living on and around the loch. But it's the birds you can't fail to notice - Oystercatcher, Shelduck, Eider, Icelandic Greylag and Pink Footed Geese. Common, Arctic and Little Terns also visit here in the Summer.
